Description: Lohri, the Punjabi harvest festival, is a celebration of the winter crop season. Prayers are offered to Surya, the Sun God, on this day. People light a holy bonfire that signifies passing of the winter chill . Prayers are offered to Earth, Sun God, the fire and the fields for prosperity, health, and good harvest. Makar Sankranti fosters the spirit of brotherhood while Lohri is observed as a celebration of new harvest. The Pre-Primary section of D.P.S Unnao, celebrated Lohri and Makar Sankranti by lighting the Holy Bonfire, with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Children danced on the tunes of Bhangra and enjoyed eating Peanuts, Popcorn, Rewdi and Jaggery sweets. Teachers told the importance of celebrating these festivals. The whole ambience was filled with exuberance and fervor.
